The Chottanikkara toilet extension project offered a unique challenge of introducing a new space into an already existing house. The client required a bathroom, a powder room and a future expansion of a lounge room. The first phase - the bathroom was designed as a space which accommodates a fresh stroke of light in the form of slit windows. The slits express the separation of the wall and the roof and also bring in light in a simple coherent fashion that also respects privacy. The slits demarcate spaces within the toilet and also becomes the element that ties them together
